




Barbara was admitted to the Maine and Federal Bars in 1980. She practiced for 5 years with the firm of Lipman and Katz in Augusta, Maine. Since then she has worked at the firm of Trafton and Matzen, where she has been a partner since 1990. Barbara’s practice has been in general civil litigation with a focus on family law. She is rostered as a guardian ad litem by the State of Maine and frequently serves in that capacity. Barbara was appointed by the governor to be an Alternate Chair on the State Board of Arbitration and Conciliation in 1998 and continues to hold that position. Barbara has received mediation training and currently teaches a co-parenting course through the Lewiston and Auburn Adult Education programs.
Barbara is a member of the American Bar Association, the Maine State Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyer’s Association, the Maine Trial Lawyer’s Association, the Family Law Association and the Women’s Law Association. She was President of Pine Tree Legal, Inc. from 1992-1994 and on its board for 17 years. She is a Fellow of the Maine Bar Foundation and has served on many other bar association committees including the Grievance Committee of the Maine Board of Bar Overseers, the Justice Action Group, the Caroline Duby Glassman Committee, the Professional Responsibility Committee and the Maine State Bar Association’s Client Protection Fund.
Barbara is also an active member of her community, having served as a Trustee of the Auburn Public Library, Director and Past President of the Diamond Island Association, a Director of the Family Planning Association, a member of the Lewiston Auburn College Advisory Committee and a Director of the Maine Special Education/Mental Health Collaborative.
Married to William Robitzek, also an attorney in Auburn, they have an adult child, Laura.
